Scoolio ist die Beste App Europas

A roaring end of the year for Scoolio: The app for organizing school life is being honored today by Huawei as the "Best App in Europe." Just before this, the Dresden-based startup successfully completed its third funding round, raising over one million euros. The free app has already been downloaded around 1.3 million times. It simplifies all organizational tasks for students, such as timetables, grades, scheduling, and homework management, while ensuring secure communication among users.

More than 3,000 app developer teams applied for the "Huawei HMS App Innovation Contest." As a result of a public vote and the decision of an international expert jury, Scoolio has been crowned the winner in the "Best App" category. The app was particularly recognized for its innovative combination of social value, excellent design, and technical features.

"A timetable on the pinboard and a crumpled homework notebook simply don’t belong in 2020 anymore," comments Danny Roller, founder and CEO of Scoolio GmbH. "We see our victory in the Huawei contest, our new funding round, and our rapidly growing user base as confirmation that students in Germany have a huge demand for a specialized digital platform for their school needs. WhatsApp for chatting, Snapchat for funny pictures, TikTok for videos – and Scoolio for school."

From Printed Student Planners to a Digital Schoolyard

Despite their young age, the Scoolio creators, led by founder Danny Roller, were able to draw on years of experience in developing the app. Back in 2010, they launched the idea of the ad-funded student planner "FuturePlan" as students themselves and initially built a successful business without any investors. Then in 2016, they launched the pilot version of the Scoolio app as a mobile companion for everyday school life. Just as Scoolio has successfully navigated its own digital transformation, the app now supports students on the same journey.
