We were honoured as the best start-up with the digital publishing award 2020!
In April of this year, we eagerly submitted our application for the Digital Publishing Award 2020 (dpa). After refining our application materials, presenting at the preconference, and introducing ourselves digitally at the Digital Publishing Conference, we can now celebrate: Winning the award in the Startup category makes us incredibly proud and is a major highlight of the year for the entire Scoolio team!

The dpa was established as part of the Leipzig Book Fair and follows in the footsteps of the well-known eBook Award. The award is presented by the editors of the DIGITAL PUBLISHING REPORT, Steffen Meier and Daniel Lenz, along with digital expert Vedat Demirdöven. It recognizes innovative players, products, and publications, as well as individuals who all share one goal: successfully shaping digital transformation.
After our application, we were nominated for the shortlist in July. This preselection was made by an eight-member expert jury, consisting of business journalists, digital experts, and members of the book fair.
Jury Evaluation
"The jury finds the achievements so far remarkable and praises Scoolio for fostering a community on its own platform, independent of major global digital corporations – a model that some textbook publishers might envy."

During the preconference, our CEO Danny Roller had the opportunity not only to present Scoolio to the expert jury and audience (via digital means) but also to get to know other nominees with their innovative concepts. The diversity of industries across all categories highlighted the impressive range of groundbreaking innovations being developed. For example, in the Startup category, Podcast Business Ohrbeit was also nominated. Their mission aligns with ours in helping young people connect with businesses and shape their future careers. It’s inspiring to see how diverse and creative approaches are being used to reach the younger generation, attracting attention from all sides.
We also congratulate the winners in the other categories:
- Process / Technology: German Archaeological Institute: DAI-Journal-Viewer
- Product / Business Model: Universal Edition: UE now
- Digital Leadership: Tobias Ott
- Special Award (Focus: Digital Sustainability, Ecology): Carlsen
In past years, we were also present at book fairs with the FuturePlan student planner team. We are even more thrilled that, in this context, we have now succeeded in convincing the jury with Scoolio as a student community and career orientation platform.
